Guide to the Vulcan Forged Marketplace
Vulcan Forge Game Studio’s marketplace (market.vulcanforged.com) is the digital auction house for all of Vulcan Forge’s NFT games, including Berserk, Forged Arena, Battle Chess, Block Babies, Coddlepets, GeoCats, and of course, their flagship blockchain game: VulcanVerse.
It is possible to view and interact with the marketplace using any web browser, but to view your personal NFTs, to place a bid, or to offer a sale, you must connect your digital wallet using the VeChain Thor mobile wallet. You may also use any web browser that has a blockchain enabled plug-in such as Comet or Sync. Vulcan Forged will soon be releasing a new digital wallet in partnership with Arkane that will store both your NFTs as well as your PYR balance (PYR will be the native token of Vulcan Forged).
The marketplace uses an intermediary token called FIRE in the auction house. When you first sign in, you will be shown “My Wallet;” which shows your VET balance, your FIRE balance, and provides many options to review your marketplace history. VET and FIRE are always tied at a 1:1 ratio. You must convert your desired amount of VET into FIRE before you can make a bid in the marketplace. The only fee associated with this is a small amount of VTHO as transaction gas. You may convert back at any time. Currently, converting VET is the only way to obtain FIRE. Vulcan Forged will be releasing their own native token (PYR) in late March or early April of 2021. PYR will then take the place of VET and be the only token used to convert for FIRE. PYR will also be listed on multiple cryptocurrency exchanges, details TBA.
You can utilize the marketplace user interface in many ways. There is a filter button on the left side of the interface that will allow you to choose to browse the NFTs from all of the various Vulcan Forged projects; as well as see what items are up in a batch offering, and what’s about to close. You can also browse for specific NFTs such as Vulcanites, which are NFTs utilized across multiple Vulcan Forged games.
Selecting “Statistics” at the top of the screen opens up a wealth of valuable information, including insight into auction house trends and prices, as well as top buying and selling wallet addresses.
“Market Activity” allows you to filter all auctions — open or closed — by multiple methods including expiry date, Token ID, starting bid price, buy it now price, as well as current bid amount. From here you may also quick view the auction, or get a direct link to the auction page itself, where you may place a bid. There is also the option to filter through all bids, open and closed — to give you a sense of history and help discover what NFTs are being hotly fought over.
At the auction listing page, you will see a photo of the the NFT(s) in question. If it is a piece of VulcanVerse land, there will also be a “map” button which will show you where in the VulcanVerse the land is located. If you have logged in with your wallet, you will be able to see your available FIRE balance. You may then enter a minimum bid, or also include a higher number as your maximum bid. There is most often a “buy it now” option, in case you do not want to risk losing the auction.
To initiate a sale, begin with “My Auctions.” There you will specify which NFTs you would like to include in the sale, the minimum bid, buy it now price, and minimum bid increment amount. The auction seller pays a 12% fee out of the purchase price to the marketplace. There are ways to lower this fee down to 5%, including owing a leveled-up Vulcan Forged Olympian or Titan NFT in your wallet. Fees are waived if auction does not sell, or is cancelled by the seller. The small VTHO fees for listing the auction are not returned. Group sales of NFTs are accepted.
The Vulcan Forged marketplace also supports direct NFT for NFT trades. To initiate a trade, begin with “My Trades.” The menu items are similar to an auction listing. Fees for trades are based on how many offers the seller would like to entertain — 500 FIRE per offer. Fees are waived if the trade does not take place, or is cancelled by the seller. Again, VTHO fees are not returned. Grouping of NFTs for trade is accepted.
